These are some of the things the Grytex Publishing Literary Agency does depending on the client:
- Place work with an appropriate publisher, carefully assessing financial terms and marketing commitment
- Negotiate advances
- Negotiate royalty rates with particular attention to areas such as high discount royalty rates
- Advise on career paths, suggesting new directions where appropriate
- Keep in touch with commercial trends
- Exploit rights in all media including film and television
- Sell translation rights
- Sell rights in America
- Chase payments
We intend to be an advocate and adviser and negotiator for the author—not to intrude on the relationship between the author and the publisher.
The basic commission we charge on advance and royalties is 15% in the home market, 15% for media and 20% on the sale of rights to America and in translation.
